Sony NEX7

At last! When the flood problems are solved for poor Sony the camera that could tempt me away from the DSLR! Look at THIS revue, just an introduction really, in video and words. He concentrates on the handling and has not attempted to do any lab style testing.

It is the nearest thing to my imaginary ideal camera for my favourite street photography outside of the Leica M9, which I will never be able to afford. The tri-nav setup and all the definable buttons mean that there will seldom be any need to dive into the menus, and a big plus for me is that it is bigger than the other NEX models. I have large hands.

I have not yet had a chance to try the NEX7 - taking pictures with one, I mean, but I have held it and experienced the viewfinder - which is the excellent OLED type that the Alpha SLT-A77 and the optional NEX-5n finders use. The camera is still pretty compact.

So have you gone off the Nikon 1?

I will be publishing a full technical review of the Nikon 1 V1 tomorrow (Monday).
