Interesting to hear you mention 'snapshots'. My own view on the 'controversial' image of the half nude female is that the lighting's not especially good and the background / composition aren't too strong. I'm not saying I could take a better portrait by any means (my owns skills in that area are minimal, to say the least) - merely that for it to be placed that highly in a large-scale composition seems surprising to me.
