  • What your choice of camera says about you

I saw this on another forum - quite funny.

I won't say what I use on the grounds that it may incriminate me

I've always known I'd be laughed at but I'm a brassy old bird so I just ignore the mockers and get on with it. I just wear a paper bag over my head and a wide strip of masking tape over the name on my camera strap.

Pol, back in the days when I first became interested in photography, I used to lust after Pentax cameras and their Super Takumar lenses. I ended up with a Praktica. somehow though Pentax seemed to loose their way in the SLR market and they fell out of Favour. I definitely would not feel inferior using one of their latest models though

I wear my joke with great pride. You know that!

David still has a Spotmatic stuffed away somewhere. He also has some old SMC Takumar lenses (or at least one) stuffed away too. I'm told, so I must believe (not) that they were "from Trevor's bargain bin" though I'm not and never was as green as I'm cabbage looking.

Trevor was the manager of the best kit shop in town and he seemed to know David and our eldest son better than I did. Always smiled broadly at me when I went in there alone to buy the occasional album or photoframe. He was also the fella who sold me all their darkroom kit, helped me load it into my tiny car and cheerfully took my big, fat cheque. Mug of a wife and 'Mummikins' that I used to be ... in THOSE days!

I've never used any of David's old lenses and I'd go ballistic if he ever took any of MY new ones without asking very politely.

I agree that Pentax doesn't seem to be keeping up too well - but I must say the quality of my own kit more than pleases me. I'm still using the K20D and have no inclination to change.

Still using the K10D too (kit lens and mirror scope lives on that one). Even the old *istD gets an occasional outing. I keep meaning to try the *istD with a pancake as it would be very inobtrusive on the street - possibly even better than the mirror scope setup I'm playing about with atm.

I just LOVE their primes and pancakes. I gave my 60-250 F.4 to David because the barrel is a bit too wide for my hands, can't handle it as well as he can. He felt very honoured.

I'd better shut up now or somebody might guess what's under the masking tape and paper bag.
