Long time, no post!

Hi everyone,

I haven't posted on here for ages and ages. Unfortunately, my husband left at the beginning of the summer (traded me in for a younger model!) so photography has had to take a back seat as I get used to being a single parent. However, I'm determined to take it up again so am planning to start posting here regularly again.

In the meantime, I've been shortlisted for a competition! If you're on Facebook and like this photo:

Thank you. No worries, I quite understand about you not wanting to add Skyscanner. I've accepted your 'friends' request on FB anyway, I tend to find it easier to keep in touch with people that way!

I love the picture as well, but like Caz don't want sign up elsewhere.

I would myself like to see the sky cropped off, I don't feel it adds anything to the picture.

Thanks for your replies everyone. That's an interesting idea regarding the sky - yes, I can see that it would focus the eye on the bird / pilings more, I'll definitely try that.

I've played around with it in other colours, too - including a coral pink 'sunrise' kind of tone - but I like the cool blue best, I think. That's the 'natural', unaltered colour (apart from a 'levels' boost).

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the input. This is quite different to photos I usually take, so it's a bit of a learning curve.

I won the competition, so thanks to anyone who voted for me. I've won a Canon IXUS, but I don't know which specific model number it is. I've never seen an IXUS before - has anyone used one?
