Advice required from those with experience

I've received an email from someone at scotland.gsi.gov.uk asking to use one of my images, and I've reproduced part of her email below:



The image in question is http://flic.kr/p/73JALR, which I took when I visited Northampton Guildhall on an Open Heritage day last year. Since I've only sold directly to people so far, any advice would be appreciated. I've actually got several more shots but didn't make them all public.

I'm not sure whether they're asking for free use of the image - which would, I suppose, get my name and images in print (albeit somewhat obscurely).

Any advice to a beginner would be much appreciated.

Consider how much it would cost you to get that much advertising

Use it as an opportunity to add credit to your photography.

I may be able to get some advice from someone who works for Historic Scotland in a photographic capacity (he's one of our regulars at our Olympus UK E-System User Group site) so I'll ask him to have a look at your issue here.

Thank you for your support Graham - I'd had much the same thought.

Ian - if you could find anything out it would be much appreciated and I'll owe you!

Something else had occurred to me - since I took the picture on an Open Heritage day I was wondering whether I can actually licence the picture as it was taken in a Borough Council building. I take a lot of shots when I go to National Trust properties, and I know you're not allowed to sell them...
