  • Viewing Exif info in galleries ?

As a long standing member of DPNow I ought to know the answer to the above question, but I have forgotten how. How does one know if a photo in an album has 'exif' info attached and the method of making it visible to read ?

    Hi Dennis,

The' view exif' icon is in the dtop-down list available from the small white triangle at the for right corner of the gallery page. If there's an icon similar to a small TV, click on that then the exif will be shown beneath the piocture.

I'm attaching a small screenshot showing the list of icons - hopefully that'll help show where and what I mean. If that small TV, beneath the printer icon, isn't there - it means the exif isn't available.

      Hi Dennis, shame on you
If you click on a thumbnail to get a preview image there is a grey bar above the thumbnails headed Home etc. At the right end of the bar is a down arrow which when you click on it reveals a menu of symbols. If there is a camera symbol that indicates Exif data and if you click on that the data will appear under the preview image..........Simples

Oh well Pol beat me to it

Doh ... I always thought the icon looked more like a TV.

A camera with a TV instead of an LCD screen ... interesting idea.

to be brutally honest, it's easily missed. i've seen the icons there, but have no idea what half of them do as there is no guiding text as to what they do. the printer and email ones are fairly obvious. the rest?

offering constructive criticism and from an applications design point of view, they should:
          a) have text descriptions with them (as hover hints)
          b) should be located with the photo as permanent icons rather than as a drop down on what is effectively the thumbnail / album title bar.

The text descriptions work for me Dave, but you need to put your pointer on the actual icon. I agree about 'b' though

Don't you start! I've enough on with Bear

I actually saw this advert the other day and watched it right through and the little Meerkat did say "Simples!"

I hate to be the one to say this, Audrey but - it was Bearface ( Tim) who said 'simples' ... not Bear (Kenton).

Thanks for putting me right Pol. I'm glad about that as I had said nice things about Bear's pix.

oh yes. so they do. i hadn't gone as far as hovering over the actual icons as you get the hand pointer anywhere on the bar, not just on the graphic. i was wondering if the blank bit next to the icon did contain text, but just wasn't showing on firefox (hence why the cursor changed).

Thank you everyone for your replies. I did not know I had so many freinds who remembered me. And Stephen, I think at 82 I can be excused a slight memory loss.
