  • A plea to all cat lovers!!! Help!

First just incase there is question, I asked and was given permission to post this by Ian. Thank you.

    ****************

Ok folks, here's the deal. Help me give a little help and love to a friend of mine and her very sick kitty in need during this holiday season. (I wish I had pictures to show you of Moose but she's been too busy at the vets for me to get them from her. )

Her situation is here in her livejournal:

    From her Journal:
I just called the vet and there has been no change overnight, which is not good news. He still has something wrong with his liver, and they won't know what it is until they do a biopsy. He needs to stay at the VEC, but the problem is that we've run out of money to keep him there.

I don't know what we're going to do...

She's at wits end trying to save her dear kitties life. And sadly vet clinics and ERs hit hard in the pocket.

So, here is what I'm wanting to do.
    (She doesn't know I'm diong this. It's a suprise.)

I'm selling my prints to help. I'm selling the prints at $25 US($20 Eur) each for the 8x10 ish sizes. I will take about $10 for paper/ink/shipping(varies depending on shipping) and the other $15 will be put in a pot for my friend and her little cat Moose.

You can choose any image from my deviant art gallery http://sweetmysterium.deviantart.com/gallery/ ( I say my DA gallery only cause it has ALL of my work. My flicker only has about 1/4 of it). Though best bet would be anything from the one called Merry Christmas to the most recent. Just for quality sake. Everything before that one was with an older, poorer camera. But the earlier ones can be requested in 4x6ish ranges for $7 a piece.

My print account on DA is down since I haven't had time to resize everything when they changed the templates so just order through me by note or email.

I can accept paypal or cash. (I don't have my own account here in Toronto yet, only my account back in Green Bay Wisconsin, makes it a little hard to cash checks and money orders)

Note me with the name of the piece(s) I'll give you the email/info to make payment to. If you do paypal please remember to leave your DA name, real name, the photo(s) you are buying, and address to ship to in the paypal comment box.

I will run this till the 20th on which date I will be flying back to the states for the holidays( where I will be able to access my US account) . I will give whatever profits made for Moose to my friend when I return on the 28th.

Thank you very much, and have a wonderful day.

Crikey! Your vets are on the expensive side!

I wish I could help, but sadly I am in the exact same situation.

My cat Quincy has the same problem, he is diabetic, and we have to inject him twice a day with insulin, and get regular blood tests. There is definately light at the end of the tunnel though, we came downstairs just a couple of days ago, and Quincy was having a hypo attack (lack of sugar to the brain) so he was turning round in circles repeatedly, and his back legs kept collapsing.

After taking him to the vets, the vet believes he is now 'on the mend' on other words, the diabetes is actually getting better, so the dose of insulin he was on, is now actually too high!

I didnt realise this, but the vet has told me that cats, are the one of the only animals, that can actually cure themselve of diabetes! (humans and dogs cant)

So now, just before Christmas we have to endure another series of blood tests etc....aagghhh But what hell, he is worth it!

So anyway, good luck with your fund raising, and remember, further down the road, the diabetes may reverse like my quincies is!

    Cheers,
    Ben

Well, well, this is fascinating! I was just telling Joanna (Life in a Lens) one of our two cats was diagnosed with diabetes about 7-8 years ago (she's 12 now), but our vet didn't mention anything about a possible remission and we were told we'd need all sorts of expenses for the rest of her days. Admittedly, it wasn't severe enough for insulin jabs. Anyway, just a few months later, she was back to normal and has been ever since.

Which means, woe betide if you leave any food within pawing distance and if you are warm, you are likely to be sat on!
