Yesterday I managed to capture a few shots of birds feeding at the bird table which I made and installed in the garden early in the year. This was the first time I had seen any birds anywhere near the table since it was erected. This morning there seemed to be a constant stream of small birds coming to take feed fly away and return. I was lucky enough to see a sparrow repeatedly taking food, flying to the fence about 8 yds away where it was feeding a smaller sparrow (obviously its chick). At one point we had four different species in the garden at the same time, sparrows, blackbirds, bluetits and two young starlings. I realise that this shot below leaves a lot to be desired, background too fussy, and the need to get in closer (I will have to get a longer lens), but as a first attempt at this I feel quite pleased. (hope Pops sees this and comments !!)

Re: Birds feeding at last !!
I'm impressed you made your own feeding station, which looks good, strong and sturdy.
It's good that you have birds visiting now. They probably have nests nearby and are likely to keep coming now that they've discovered the feeders and decided they feel they're in a safe environment where they can use it.
No doubt Pops will be along sometime soon.

Looks great Dennis - my only observation is that the hanging feeders might blow off as I can't see any obvious means of secure location?
Aty the weekend we had a family of bluetits on the feeder. You could tell which was the greedy youngster as it sat in the feeder waiting to be fed by its parents
