Or actually not... in the last few weeks I have moved office (a bit like moving house as we had accumulated tons of stuff at the old site), seen my eldest daughter off to university in Sheffield, my younger daughter has moved to a new school for 6th form and is studying A-Level photography (along with Maths, Chemistry and Physics!), my wife, Julia, is now a full time maths teacher although she continues to help me with our Olympus hire business and I recently spent a week in Germany attending Photokina. I'm also contributing regularly to Time Warner photography titles Amateur Photographer and What Digital Camera.
I have actually moved to work from rented office accommodation, where the business has been for the last 8 years or so, to working back at home. This has require the building of additional storage facilities (DIY Ian is a site to behold!) and a massive task to sort through all the gear and associated documents, and what-not. The latter is probaby only half-finished.
All this has meant that I have had to neglect DPNow and our other sites to an extent, for which I must apologise. But the behind the scenes consolidation is to ensure that I can return to devoting as much time as possible on the websites. I need to sift through a lot of material from Photokina and publish related articles here. I have several reviews in the pipeline and Lara has agreed to start a DPNow blog documenting her A-Level photography course.
I'm still mopping up here and was at the old office just this morning to shift the last bits and pieces, although a large Epson pro printer, which I rescued for the tip a while ago, remains there (I never managed to get it working, sadly). But this week should see my efforts starting to return to normal and I will be working overtime to generate new interest and content and to promote what we do here in order to attract new readers and forum patrons!
I'd like to heap praise on Pol, Pops, John Perriment for flying the flag and of course to all our core regular posters here on the forum!
So - watch this space!
