Quick gallery photo forum posting!

A new enhancement for quick and easy posting gallery images to the forum is now operational.

It works rather like including smilies, but instead of clicking on your chosen emoticon, you can click on thumbnails of your gallery pictures.

Try it now! You need to use the Advanced mesage editor. Under the standard smilies on the right of the edit box you will see 'My Pics' and the word 'Open' hyperlinked.

Click on 'Open' and a window will pop up with a selection of thumbnails from your gallery, like this:

Click on a thumbnail and the picture will be inserted in your forum message at the current position of the cursor. A drop down menu gives you options for how the image is placed, but we recommend 'Original image'.

The new feature may have a few teething problems - if you notice anything unusual, please let us know.

I like this and think it will help us all out. You never know I may even post a few more pictures then normal .

I notice that sometimes some thumbnails don't appear properly - I will investigate further, but I think it's useful enough to use for now.

I have been trying to get this to work since before Christmas. David, who does our database stuff, has had to do quite a bit of magic under the skin to get it to work.

Just out of interest, do some of your thumbnails not show like mine?

Indeed some thumbs don't appear properly. Actually I see a thumb, a perpendicular bold line next to it, then another thumb, then another line.
Is there any possibility that we can see our gallery albums and then choose from which album we want to enter which photo?

Yes Ian,

Some thumbs appear like perpendicular short bold lines between other visible thumbs.

I'm not sure, but I suspect that might be because only one thumbnail per picture is shown - so if you have it copied into other albums the other copies just show as a red X, like a broken image link.

I guess you are using FireFox - in IE the non-appearing thumbnails appear as placeholder graphics.

I'll see if we can enable album views.

Ah, no - they appeared perfectly I'm seeing in my own gallery view that some of my thumbnail pix aren't displayed properly - was wondering if you had the same problem.

It's on the bug-fix list of to-dos.
