  • Site outage this morning

I would just like to apologise for the site being down between around 8am and 1pm today. This was because of a recompilation of php on our server that disagreed with the forum code. It was a bit confusing because the error pointed to a name server problem but that was a red herring. Stepping back to an earlier version of php eventually fixed the problem.

I had noticed. Tried to get on the site several times. Thought it was my computer. Signed on again. Still no joy. Decided to e mail to ask what I was doing wrong. Don't have your email address Ian!

What other way is there of contacting you to ask what the problem is?

Just thought, perhaps I could do it through one of your other sites, but I would have to join.

Hi Audrey - [email protected] is probably the best email address to use.

In this instance I knew what was happening but of course with the forums down there was little that I could do to let everyone know.

The software update had been scheduled for early Saturday morning for the least disruption - but it went wrong. The guys handling this for us are in the US, so although I was in email contact with them, I basically had to wait for them to sort it out, and they did eventually.
