I thought with some protection from the wind I would take some pix and video with the new gimble but with some gusts pushing the unit I quickly stopped using it - I did however mange to take a short amount and here it is:

Amazing stability with that Gimbal. I was all set to order one but discovered that it won't accommodate phones with thick cases. DJI says the max dimensons are 88 mm x 9.5 and my case is 12 mm thick. If they made one that would fit I'd definitely get it.

I've been waiting for a foggy morning to try to capture an "above the clouds" sunrise. I finally got the chance this morning. I was so excited to see the sun appear that I forgot to change the aperture. Next time I'll remember.

    • I have deleted the previous link to Vimeo as I have included more footage in the video below - the winds in the first two scenes moved the gimble too much and although we had more winds yesterday they were not so strong.

Love the cows at the end of the video!

My Osmo Mobile 3 arrived! Amazing technology. The timelapse has a path feature that you can program. It might make for a cool sunset shoot. I have a lot to learn with it.

    • You convinced me. I just ordered the Osmo 3. I'll have to use a different case or use it with Penny's iPhone 8. I really like the tracking feature. That's going to be great videoing other snowboarders this coming winter. And having zoom buttons will be an added plus. Once again I'm in your debt for identifying great ;products!

      • Very high winds in advance of a thunderstorm last evening so I kept the altitude at 50 feet, aimed the gimbal up, and let the video record for 13 minutes. Then I speeded up the footage by a factor of 50 and got this result.

        • A very good result, I'd say.

Your really getting the hang of this drone. I enjoy seeing your videos,

Still amazes me how stable the drone is in flight.

          • Here's today's adventure. A little tongue-in-cheek attempt to see how high it can fly.... 😎

                • We had our first outdoor concert of the season and my friend Rick Davis' band performed along with an astonishing guitarist. Val MacCallum has been the lead guitarist for Jackson Browne for twenty years. He'a also worked with Sheryl Crow, Loretta Lynn, and Bonnie Raitt. Fans of the old Man From Uncle TV show will remember his father David MacCullum. His mother was Jill Ireland and his stepfather was Charles Bronson. At 6'4" he's an imposing figure. I captured one song on the iPhone (the Osmo 3 didn't arrive until today).and mixed in some drone footage.

                  • Thoroughly enjoyed both the music and the videography . I would have been happy to have sat there for the duration of the session, while supping liquid refreshment.

Wont be long till your producing film, professionally, Pat. Your work is very good. You must really enjoy doing it. I enjoy watching it. Thanks.

                    • Got a chance to test out the Osmo Mobie 3 Gimbal setup. Thanks Barr1e for the heads up. Please let me know any other cool gadgets you discover.

This footage was shot in 1080 at 30 fps. I should have done it in 4K and 60 fps.

                        • Hi Pat -

I haven't done very much over recent days. We have been updating the computers via Microsoft One Drive which has taken several days to complete on my machine.
At least it has now finished and I can start working on the new items in the kit bag. ✔
Here is a short video taken of the Royal Mail Train using the gimble - I had waited several days to take it but had to move my position for two gents of my age to spoil the opportunity.

You may find this link useful if you haven't spotted it.

I enjoyed your Rick Davis Band video along with the gimble one - it didn't take long for you to use several settings.

The vimeo link said I wasn't authorized to view it.

The second video was an excellent tutorial. It answered a few questions I had.

It was too cloudy to do time lapse of the sunset last night. I'll try it tonight using the Osmo's path feature.

                        • Hi Pat -

I must have forgotten to mark the video for public viewing - sorry. I decided to delete the video as it wasn't the one I wanted to take due to having to re-locate.

Tomorrow the winds should be light and conditions bright - the drone can come out of hibernation.

                          Look forward to your filming.

Thunderstorms tonight. It's not looking good for seeing the comet.

                        • Today I had one of those 'why is it all going wrong'. As the weather was glorious today I took my small Fuji to video parts of the canal and somehow all the work ended up with the shakes - possibly due to the Guinness I had to drink with my lunch.

I arrived at the Railway Station in the heat of the day and was particularly pleased seeing The Royal Mail rounding the bend and heading towards me. Now was it the Guinness or the heat of the day because when I pushed the video button on the gimble
instead of videoing the run through the station it went on multi shot. I ended up with 60+ pix. I shall have to try again!

Two from the multi takes today.
