Yes the calibration has certainly improved the results. My only criticism would apply to both Pat and yourself is that the pans start rather abruptly. This is probably due to the drone turning to quickly. I have never flown a drone so shouldn't comment on this aspect. I sold my drone because I didn't have the nerve to test fly it. When panning my video camera I always try to start off slowly and finnish likewise. Glad you have got this sorted, just need good weather and you will be producing some very good videos.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right. Down sized to Nikon s7000 compact camera.

      Hi Ron -

I'm so pleased you noticed the earlier problem because I could have taken quite a few clips/videos and spoilt each one.
I must temper my enthusiasm of getting up in the air and wrestling with the control sticks. I even purchased some extended sticks but I still couldn't slow the movements.

      Thanks so much

I don't know much about the radio controllers for drones, but on my Sons radio controlled car there was a sensitivity adjustment that enabled even me with shaky hands to keep control of it. Is there any adjustment in the setup menu of your drone? I can see longer control levers doing a similar job. Other than that, practice and more practice seems your only option.

ps have just looked on YouTube and found a video on how to adjust sensitivity on your drone. I think that should be your next step to smoother panning.

also see smooth gimble and camera movements. In this video it shows how to get very slow panning left and right starting off and gradually increasing speed etc Lots to learn it seem. Hope this all helps you get more professional looking footage from your drone.

          Hi Ron -

Thanks for looking at how to improve flying through settings.
What Ian is showing in his video are crafts that cost much more than the mini Pat and I fly - a good place to start of course.
Where those models shine is with avoidance settings (missing obstacles) and much more like being able to increase/decrease the pressure on the sticks on the controller to smooth the flight.

I'm grateful for your help in trying to improve the way I'm flying and also the video quality - thanks again.

Between showers, small gusts of wind and horse riders I managed to fly the drone which may give the results needed - I confess I put the craft under a little pressure here and there.

        Far smoother, Barr1e.

We all learn in this forum. I certainly do. Maybe one day, I'll buy a drone.

          Hi Garry -

          Thanks.

I am beginning to enjoy the drone and once the virus has receded and the skies are blue again coupled with windless days I can get the TV people to take the footage as Pat does so well with his.

Not being fully drone educated I over looked the difference each model has. Maybe I had better study the specification of the mini before getting carried away with my ideas. Must say your last video does show a great improvement over the original that I commented on.

Not at all Ron - I have just watched about 3 hours worth of several specialists droning on about suggested settings - didn't help much as I have watched so many previously. Thanks for your thoughts.

My Mini is still being repaired in Texas. I've been without it for 10 days. A local real estate agent wants me to get aerial shots of some of his listings..

Typically, video is relatively smooth when ascending, descending, or moving in a straight line in any direction: left, right, forward, or backward. The jerkiness seems to be when rotaing on its axis or moving the gimbal up and down. It takes a very delicate touch to rotate without going too fast. The knurled knob for the camera gimbal is on the front of the controller and also requires a gentle touch. It would be nice to adjust the sensitivity but I haven't found a way to do it. When I get it back, I'll practice with it.

In reading the forums I've discovered that I've been lucky not to lose the Mini. I've been flying very low over water and it appears that the downward facing sensors are fooled if the water is clear. Choppy water isn't an issue.

If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room.

At last I have managed another upload to YouTube.

Taken a few days apart as the wind in the first section was quite strong but moving the crop in pretty patterns. The second of the three sections shows the ripening under way.
It was a pity we have had many seasons of weather ie rain, winds and sun of late + having a wee beastie bite my hand and leaving it swollen for a few days thus limiting the button being depressed.

That is very impressive footage. The clarity of that camera is simply amazing. I noticed that the auto exposure was changing with the passing clouds, also the stability was very good as the trees in the distance did not shudder one bit. Excellent, I'm slowly getting tempted to join the drone club.

Nice job clearing that tree! My Mini finally came back from the repair shop today. I've missed it the past three weeks. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to video some paddleboarders at a nearby lake, I may take one of my GoPros out on the paddleboard myself.

Is it the original or a replacement Pat - either way it will be good for flying and taking videos once more.

                      Hi Ron -

It was suggested Vimeo gave a better result than YouTube so with your experience Ron what do you think please?

This is "Windy Movie" by MA2 on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

Barr1e I have never considered Vimeo so this was a great experience to view the same material on both sites. On a score of one to ten I have to say Vimeo seven YouTube nine. On my 4k monitor the sharpness just seems better on YouTube. Others may not agree with my judgement but for sure I will continue to use YouTube for all my own videos. If anything Vimeo dose have a nice easy interface and is easy to use, but the end result, be it small, is what really counts.

Please note: This is purely my personal view which could be due to the 4k monitor I use. I.E. your video is HD 1080 and is therefore upscaled by the monitor to 4k. YouTubes file may contain a wee bit more data or be more compatible with the upscaling process giving a better result. Both Vimeo and YouTube systems played back very smoothly and with good colour. Would love to hear anyone else's opinion of this site comparison.
