I have been busy of late and drone flying was put on the back burner. After seeing the video below it has tempted me to fly tomorrow subjects to winds.
Pat may have seen this well crafted video on a site we both use - if not Pat it is well worth viewing I think.
Finally a sunny day with light winds. I tried lateral panning at a lower elevation in town and then was fortunate to catch a train passing. They only come through twice a day.

I agree with Garry - you have taken to your drone very well - more to come methinks.
I took some trains today - they were moving but the drone was stationary about 60feet in the air which highlights my lack of practice and I don't have nerves of steel yet.
I was pleased with what I took especially as I have story in mind. Just need to return for a couple of stills .
After days of waiting for the winds to settle and not blow the drone away to a new unknown location I attempted a flight early this morning and can say at last I'm getting there. Nothing special - however I hope you like it.
Barr1e I how you don't mind me asking. Are you able to turn off the image stabilisation while in flight? I ask this as it seems when you plan slowly the image stabilisation is working overtime and giving you jerky movements. Pat seems to pan much faster and don't get any jerkynes to his shots. I must say I prefer slow pan shots and maybe shot with the stabilisation off it would look a smoother.

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy watching drone videos.
I'll be out of commission for another week or so as I had to send mine back for repairs. In less than six weeks I encountered a Motor Speed Error message three times. In the first two cases I was able to fix the problem by replacing the left rear propellers. The third time the problem occurred in both sets of rear props. DJI said to mail it back.

DJI seem to be very good with replacing faulty drones with a new replacement. I don't fly as often as you Pat and haven't fortunately suffered any problems. I know of many others who have had similar Motor Speed Errors as seen on the drone site we use,
Fingers crossed it works out well.

No to the first, there have been several posts regarding jerky movements. I hadn't noticed it on my screen until you mentioned it - it may be down to the 'frame rate' which I hadn't checked when launching the craft - silly error - but I have two excuses - I filmed the scene once before the current one in winds
that were gusting and quickly took advantage of filming a second time as my app I have on weather conditions told me there would soon be rain. Also my Pinnacle Studio program refused to copy the footage over to the program - I then had to use an old program Movie Maker and if I make another vid will have to change the speed in increments to observe a cleaner video. However it may well be my rush to get the Mavic Mini in the air and not checking whether to use 25 or 30fps. Suggestions from others would be helpful.
Thanks for mentioning the problem Rod - appreciated.
I can't wait to get the drone back. Here's an old mill I'd like to capture from the air.
Our Local Access TV station asked me to put together a short video of scenes around our town. You've seen most of the footage before but I wanted to share the finished product. There are some shots not taken with the drone.

Hi Rod -
It was suggested on the DJI (drone) site today the problem with judder was either windy conditions or the IMU needed calibration. I have now calibrated the IMU and due to lack of time today I only managed a short flight.
I will weather permitting in the next few days film some footage and ask for your comments if you don't mind please.
No problem Barr1e. I suggested image stabilisation as my previous Panasonic video, which had digital stabilisation, gave similar results. My Sony has a floating gimble type system lens and is far smoother. I can walk up stairs and down while videoing and there is no judder at all. Seems to work like a ships compass.
Just read the article on their site and seems to answer your problem. IMU not controlling the camera gimble may be the problem. Looking forward to seeing your test results.

Between showers, small gusts of wind and horse riders I managed to fly the drone which may give the results needed - I confess I put the craft under a little pressure here and there.
