A friend owns a restaurant that was forced to close for a lengthy period of time because of Coronavirus. Hopefully he'll be back in business soon. I'll print this in 11 x 14 and apply it to a foam backing and give it to him.

Another flight in light winds

It is amazingly stable and I've been able to use it in somewhat windy conditions. Sometimes at maximum height (120 metersin the US) I'll get a High Wind Warning. Immediately lowering the altitude takes care of that. The manufacturer advertises 30 minutes flying time. If you're doing a long flight, start upwind. The display does indicate remaining battery percentage and available flying time. I'm pretty careful not to cut it too close. The Return To Home is a great feature. Engaging it takes the drone to a preset altitude (I use 55 meters) and returns it to within a half meter of the starting point.Originally posted by selenajain View PostI think Mavic mini drone is quite perfect for travel, even hiking or backpacking. I saw it's excellent stabilization in your video. But I have a couple of questions:
Is there a possibility that the automaton escapes sight/run.
What if I face a battery discharge during the flight.
Probably the biggest shortcoming is the lack of collision avoidance sensors. It wasn't possible to include them at the price and weight limits.
All in all, I find it an amazing device. Although my iPhone 11 Max Pro fits the controller even with the case on, I picked up a used iPhone 6 on eBay to keep in the case.
These shots taken on a gray day yesterday are all video screenshots. They would have had much better resolution if I had taken them as stills.
And a Selfie. I'm standing next to my car.

Amazes me just how high these things go !
Can YOU still see the drone from the ground ?

No, I can't see it when it gets that high. It's a little disconcerting but I have a map display so I can tell where it is. This shot taken this morning is a still shot (12 mp). It was very windy.Originally posted by Garry View PostAmazes me just how high these things go !

I can see why you enjoy using this. Its a fabulous way of getting otherwise unobtainable images. If I lived in a prettier area. I would get one myself.Canon 7D 50D 400D Canon 300mm f4 L IS Canon 70 - 200 f2.8 L IS Sigma 150 - 500 f6.3 OS Sigma 50mm f1.4

I hope you're able to get out and get some flight time. I'm so grateful you brought the Mavic Mini to my attention. Next time the weather cooperates I want to video a stretch of a nearby river that's popular with fly fisherman. I'll keep my altitude pretty high to avoid bothering them. This afternoon my wife and I did a three mile hike on a forest trail. I shot a short video walking behind her. It was a little like threading a needle. Clearly I need practice avoiding sudden corrections.Originally posted by Barr1e View PostI'm really looking forward to using mine after seeing what you have gained from this craft - thanks Pat.
Hopefully the PM might give us a little more freedom in his statement to the nation this coming Monday.

I thought you did very well to have manoeuvred the drone through the trees and the over hanging branches.
No doubt that with time you will do this seamlessly.Canon 7D 50D 400D Canon 300mm f4 L IS Canon 70 - 200 f2.8 L IS Sigma 150 - 500 f6.3 OS Sigma 50mm f1.4

This is what Drones were made for. I really enjoy seeing these videos that you take the time to make.
I presume it was you on the right of the bridge. Yes ?Canon 7D 50D 400D Canon 300mm f4 L IS Canon 70 - 200 f2.8 L IS Sigma 150 - 500 f6.3 OS Sigma 50mm f1.4

I had hoped to fly up the river over the rapids at a lower altitude but the winds really picked up. My wife had her first drone flying lesson today and did great..If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room.

Nope. It was me. The controller was in my lap controlled by my left hand. Since the drone was pointed at me, the controls were all reversed so I really had to concentrate. I definitely needed the coffee... 😎Originally posted by patmoore View Post
I took the short clip of the earlier video of the eagle in flgiht and slowed it down to 1/4 speed.
