You will be very pleased with the 70-200 f2.8, I have had one for a number of years. Being an older example it doesn't have the OS but it's capable of very sharp results, I have used it for portraits on the odd occasion, arguably too sharp for the ladies.
The 50 - 500 has been sold and the 70 -200 has arrived, it's the older version non OS but seems like a great lens, had a little play when I got home from work yesterday. I now look forward to my days off as of Monday to go out and about with it.
Got it from Ebay and looks like new it's been very well looked after.
