Re: Canon EOS 50D w/ Sigma lens
Hi Dave - is your concern that this person is simply here to sell his camera, or are you concerned that the deal is dodgy?

Re: Canon EOS 50D w/ Sigma lens
on other forums i use, it's normally bad form to make your first post a 'for sale' as the person is a complete unknown quantity and would usually set alarm bells ringing. a known, regular contributor would be seen as a much lower risk.
it may be that yann55 has been a long time lurker, in which case an introductory post would've been nice before wading in with an item to sell. only my opinion of course.

I spotted this one shortly after it appeared and my initial reaction was that it might've been spam. Therefore I checked out the member's details and found nothing suspicious - all seems to be genuine, including the email addy.
I also looked more closely into http://www.ezyoffer.com/ and it seems ok - just a useful way of creating one's own webpage specifically for selling something.
Those are the reasons I left the posting and did nothing more about it as I imagined you'd probably do the same checks next time you were online.
On the other hand - I agree with devilgas that it wasn't a good idea to sign up to a message board and leap stright in with a 'for sale' item as it's not likely to appeal to the regular members as they know nothing about the seller as he/she hasn't introduced themselves adequately enough to earn their trust.

Yes, I agree it's not ideal. I didn't think there was any fraud issue, though, although I always encourage anyone buying anything on the Net like this to cover themselves for any eventuality.
In the next week or two I will be rebuilding the forum as there are some minor bugs that need to be fixed and we aren't yet on the latest software release. I will almost certainly include some modifications to limit the options of absolute newbies as some other forums already do.
