  • How difficult is it?....

...to work out which is your best photo of the year? Do you have a favourite? How about posting it here?

    I think it's a really tough one!

It's a very tough one, especially as my favourite photos aren't always my best.

The series I grabbed when 'Stumpy' came to see us in daylight are undoubtedly my favourites. Here she is again, this one just as she arrived and had stopped to assess the situation before she trotted off to the food tray ...

It's very difficult to pick just one but since I have improved my overall techniques this year, this is the one that stands out from the rest so far.

I can see why you would be so pleased with that one, Pol. I have often said that technical quality comes second to the subject. You can have a technically perfect boring pictures, but an eye-grabbing subject can be excused some technical imperfections.

This one makes me think a lot and to me that is a sign of a special picture. It's a summer scene with a tree that looks like it's in the middle of winter

It looks a wintry scene to me. What do you see Ian that makes it look summery?

On my screen, I feel it is a touch dark in the foreground to the right of the tree.

Peder explained that it was taken during the summer and it was entered for a summer-oriented challenge
