Welcoming cool shade and respite from the summer sun:

Not required for this year, but it's nice to reminisce

            I love this picture!

I've lost count of the number of times I've tried to create a similar patch in the garden without success. The best I usually get is the occasional isolated cornflower.

It was a blisteringly hot day and this shade was so welcoming! No, not this year, obviously (not in the UK at least!) but last year in France (Fontenay le Comte).

Wow Ian, how big is she? The last photo I saw was the one at the side of your house, may have been a comp entry. She's growing up so fast. A little treasure.

Summer skies and a clear run ahead. Yay!

Thanks. We're in the middle of making some changes in the garden, fighting the weather every step of the way too so that part of it isn't exactly without some degree of stress. Going over to the nursey is always nice though. Bought a few hedging roses and a Buddleia to fill some gaps.

As for the road - we refer to it as "The Runway" as it's one of the few local roads where people can and do zoom down that dip and take off at the top.

How did you get this shot? I love the blur at the bottom.

Simple really. I just whipped my small p/s Leica out of my pocket, leaned forward to rest my elbows on the dashboard then clicked the shutter.

Needless to say David was driving and I was a passenger. The blur is 'cos we were ... erm ... on the runway, innit. Vrooom, Wheeee!
