Here's a May Bug, appropriately spotted today, the 1st of May. It had settled on a sheet that I'd just brought in from the washing line. Thank goodness I hadn't put the sheet on the bed yet.

And here's a snapshot I grabbed a few days ago. Spring-like to me anyway.

It was very early morning and I noticed what looked like smoke rising from our neighbour's house - either that or our roof was on fire! I rushed over to the bedroom window and realised it was just steam rising from the trees and hedges. Worra relief when I realised it was just the heavy dew burning off our neighbour's garden!

One of the old English favourites - the daffodil

But here in France on the May 1st public holiday, apart from being an occasion for union demonstrators to throw a few rocks at the police, sprigs of muguets, (Lilies of the Valley), are given to friends and loved ones as a bringer of good luck.

Hi Roger, call me a smartarse if you like but these are not snowdrops. They look more like Lily of the Valley to me

You are right, of course, Stephen! No idea why I said snowdrops - maybe just a moment OLD!

                  Spring Lamb

Taken today against the sun - but some p+p helped put matters right.

I had one of these when I was about 2 years old. It was mounted on hardboard with a wheel under each corner and a red tubular steel bar fixed to the back so I could push it along

Rapeseed by the Acre - the pollen and smell still lingers several hours after taking this today.
