Re: Post your holiday photos here

We were in Paris over New Year, to be honest the whole trip was something of a disappointment, and the fact my wife was ill on New Years Eve, along with over half of the rest of the coach party did not help. It was also COLD and the light was poor, which meant that I have hardly a photo I'm happy with out of those taken. However here is one taken at the end of the Champs Elysees, which it has to be said was very pretty. The photo was taken just before the road was closed and with the camera sat perched on top of a bollard in the middle of the road. I used a delayed action exposure to try and avoid camera shake. Taken with my Canon G9 and a 2 sec exposure

I like that very much Jojo. So natural, with just a hint of colour. I think it would make a nice Christmas Card.

A Happy New Year to you.

Sorry to hear your trip was so disappointing Stephen and I hope your wife is better now. It could have been so different. These trips are always a bit of a gamble at this time of year.

We were married on New Year's Eve 1955 and spent a couple of nights in London. There was a gala dinner at the Russell Hotel, but I remember nothing of outside celebrations!

I like your photo, it is really Chrismassy. I am trying to work out the angled light trails. Is it where vehicles have turned the corner? The ones in the foreground, I mean?

            jojo -

            So alone and feeling blue.

            Nice shot.

Oh yuck , what a shame. Being ill is bad enough - on New Year's Eve it sucks

Re your image, I like the sun star effect of the lights Stephen - adds a little more magic to the scene.

Thanks for your comments Stephen, Audrey and Barr1e - tried to set up my tripod but the ground was very uneven and it was too chuffin' cold to mess around!

Re: Post your holiday photos here

A bit late joining the party, but here's my tuppence - afraid I've got two..

Didn't go far over Christmas as my daughter came home and promptly succumbed to the flu. I got a bit house crazy on Boxing day and went out (a bit late) to try and catch the sunset, but got dusk instead:

When I took her back to the station to start her journey back to France, I took the camera as she wanted some misty landscapes from home. I took a couple on the way back, but when I got home went out again and took this one:

Amazing what a difference a few days makes...

The second of the two is superb, the sheep on the horizon make it. I mightn't have been tempted to crop after the sheep to make the image tighter.
