  • The Silly Season

What I hope will be a fun assignment to post shots of 'Seasonal Silliness'.

It's Summer in the UK at the moment so the following are just a few snaps I acquired recently - but I realise this is a global board so please feel free to post shots which depict typical silly attire, habits, lifestyles irritations etc from whatever season it might be wherever you are in the world.

First shot shows a typical situation of an oblivious driver + carriage causing traffic holdups in and around lanes and narrow roads.

When we were eventually able to overtake safely we hadn't been able to travel far before we were held up by yet another irritation along the local roads and lanes. Typical UK Summer roadworks.

So we finally made it past the roadworks until we were held up again at urban traffic lights. Whilst we waited I spotted this typical topless lobster going into a Chemist's shop .. possibly for something to soothe that rapidly reddening back?

... and a short distance further along .... a typical British Summer icon. A pair of legs sandwiched between dubious shorts, socks and peculiar casual shoes or sandals. Phwoar!!

Does anyone have any to add? If not, have fun looking and snapping then posting some of the results in here.

I thought I'd jump in and beat Julia too it and pre-empt any comparisons with the last picture and me!

I wouldn't wear socks like that

I choose not to answer that in case I might incriminate myself

Popped up to nose around the local carnival a few weeks ago. Thought it would make a nice change from photographing birds.....

My suspicions were confirmed when he dismounted....No Seat

This metal figure is on guard outside a scrap yard .. it's around 20 feet high.

Unfortunately I didn't take them, but my son shot some crackers at Glastonbury... There's one in particular that sticks in my memory. My daughter said it was a more tiring festival than usual as they were unable to sit (due, of course, to the mud!)

He spotted a very tired festival goer in raincoat, scarf and wellies who'd found a plank protruding from something and was having a rest. There were 3 shots as the chap gradually fell asleep precariously perched on this board. Just hope he didn't fall off, poor lad..

Here's a link to the one I find amusing...

It's actually in his 'Glastonbury mud' set..

A good selection of pics there. I'm probably going to spend a while studying the faces of the various onlookers working out what they're thinking.

That pigeon, first shot from pops, just adds a nice finishing touch of direspect for those local pillars of society who throw themselves into every event with great gusto.

I love that Glastonbury shot too. Worra mess! The plank must have felt like sheer luxury way up above all that mud.
