                  There are unfortuately so many derelict piers (although the OP hasn't it's in the UK!), so a bit of research is called for!

                            I thought that there wasn't much of a visual clue in the original picture so this should help a lot.

                              Last clue: the town with this pier has a shallow beach so has this very long pier with a railway on it and is one of the very few places served by a form of transport invented about 60 years ago with the aid of a vacuum cleaner and a tin of cat food.
