This is one of the earliest Greek Revival buildings in England. It was built by the local landowner as a replacement for the mediaeval church (which he was busily demolishing without the consent of the local bishop, who was mightily p***ed off!). This (the new church) was designed as an 'eyecatcher' to be seen across the park from the house.
