Here's one to ponder over (or guess within a few minutes).

I am not sure, but a google search came up with a dome in Whtley Bay that looks like the one in the photo.

Spot on. It's the dome of what is now a leisure centre in Whitley Bay. It's an iconic building on the seafront which used to be integated with the 'Spanish City' funfair - funfair now gone as the seafront and Whitley Bay is being regenerated.

The photo was taken back in 1998 last time I was at the 'Spanish City' when I'd gone there for one last look, knowing it would be gone before I could get up there again.

So over to you now, Kurt.

This could be a tough one, so a couple of early clues:

1: There are better known views of this coastline.

2: I had just visited the former home of a pioneering photographer.

It would be nice to get an answer that included the place I had just been.

It looks like Tennyson Down on the IOW overlooking Freshwater Bay.I had to have a play on the web for a photographer so I guess it may be Julia Margaret Cameron.

But I could be a million miles off.

You are spot on. I had just been to her former home, now a gallery/museum of photography that is well worth a visit (supported by Olympus, I noticed) Dimbola.

Unfortunately it was very misty and the fog came down so quickly we couldn't see those stacks a few minutes after the photo was taken!

Is it Tournai, with it's imposing cathedral?

Well done John ,yes it is Tournai. According to the history I've read it was part of England from 1513 to 1519??

The cathedral is very imposing and dominates the town.Lots of work going on inside when I visited two years ago.

                          Your turn.

Thanks Andy. Let's see if anyone knows this place, or can work out where it is.

I don't think it is the shed in West Mersea, I remember it as a black shed (great fish, though). I have heard of a "shed" in Wales, might that be close?
