It was complete guess work to start with - based on your previous reference to having visited Australia

      OK, here's my new one:

This was taken over twelve and a half years ago (April 199 using a very early digital camera, an Agfa ePhoto 1280.

I'm looking for place and country, the latter probably being reasonably easy and I chose the country because of Christmas (not the religious aspect, though). I'm pretty sure some hints will be required for the place, but we'll see...

OK, yes, it's Finland, but where in Finland? I had to wear a survival suit, mittens and a balaclava when we went out on snowmobiles, although I was also able to do some downhill skiing - the latter may be a good clue?

So think of a Finnish resort that has a (modest) down hill ski slope, although it's more famous for 'hotter' natural resources...

Never been to Finland, so this is tough. But I will hazard a guess: Yllas?

Hmmm, a finnish resort with a down hill ski slope?

I wouldn't know, but I do know lots of resorts with down hill ski slopes that have a finish

Well done again, it's Saariselka, which is a spa resort in northern Finland, far above the Arctic Circle. It's at near sea level and the small downhill ski centre has slopes with a 180m drop. It's north of Rovaniemi, which is the traditional home (for Finns!) of Santa Claus!

I've worked this one out, but I'd rather someone else got it

It's associated with a famous wine region, but east of perhaps the most famous one of all.

Well, I'm guessing it's in Alsace, but I can't do better than that

If Strasbourg is right, could it be the twin towers on the River Ill just south of Petit France? I can't remember their names, but it was where prisoners used to be kept
