Is it in the Liguria region? Lots of medieval hill-top villages there, similar in fact to St. Paul De Vence but without the surfeit of artists. (it was the sign that looks like a painting that made me think of St PDV . . . along with the roof tiles)

It was a good job that reducing the photo obliterated the sign, because people would have got it ages ago by Googling.

The trouble with guessing where a photo is that I have to come up with a replacement. Coming up with a suitable one can take some searching out.
This shot is in this country and hopefully will be recognised by someone. Don't be shy now, there seems to be only about 4 of us keeping this thread going
