Southern Hemisphere Autumn Challenge 2010!

Horacio has shamed me in to opening a southern hemisphere autumn challenge to run in parallel with the northern hemisphere spring challenge

Unfortunately, I have no pictures to contribute despite having been born in the southern hemisphere (Newcastle, Australia), the last time I was south of the equator was when I lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, back in 1970-71. The closest I have been to the equator since was a stop-over in Singapore back in 1992!

But if you are south of the equator now - let's see your autumn photos!

I did not want to shame you but your new challenge is very welcome.

Her is my picture, taken today, at sunset, in one of the famous beaches in Punta del Este, Uruguay, in a cold day of Easter, where the people with long shadows say the last good by to the summer.

Hi Ian. Thank you for all your comments on this picture. While I took the above showed picture, the main autumnal component was the chilling cold of the day and the people dressed in heavy clothes. But I realized that you are right about the lack of obvious autumnal components in the pict., so as soon as I get back home, I will certainly add new pictures related to this southern season. These look quite similar to the leaves of what we call 'lime' trees here, although there is no link to the citrus lime fruit. I looked it up and indeed there is a relationship between 'tilia' and our lime trees
