  • Brighton - Dusk

    Dear All,

Learnt a valuable lesson today. Check your gear BEFORE you leave the house at the crack of dawn, especially when you have your other half, a ten year old and a seven year old in tow!

Went down to Brighton today, left the house about seven (too late to get there for dawn but it was a family day out). Arrived about 8.30 and parked on the seafront to head for the pier, specifically the underside. Anyway long story made short, was using the 5d mark 2 which due to my joy of using the E P1 recently has hardly been used, especially the 24-105mm lens attached today. My kit was dirty! The lens had smears! and as a result the pictures were rubbish, full of flare etc.

For the rest of day I switched to the E P1 an a 20mm lens. Those pictures will follow at some point. At the end of the day, we returned to the car and I couldn't resist switching back to the canon with the 70-200L. This is what I got. Iso ranges from 640 to 1250.

As always not feel free to comment. I just enjoy sharing.

    Best regards

    Josh

As always nice shots and great light Josh. I like these, but also look forward to seeing your shots with the E-P1 and Pancake lens.

I like these too Josh, particularly the first, third and fourth.

As Stephen says, nice light. It's interesting to see how bright the word Brighton shows. The colour matches the sky.

          Hi Josh,

Lovely images, it was well worth the aggro to get these. I agree about cleaning kit, I've worked with too many kids to know that at some point one of their sticky little fingers will touch the lens so after every shoot however short, I do a complete clean down.

I love the colours you captured here well done.

My thought on seeing the first one was 'wow!' Well captured, beautiful colours and great timing. The others are lovely too, but the first one is my favourite.

              Re: Brighton - Dusk

Thanks for the comments all. This afternoon the 5D AND all associated lenses and filters got a thorough clean. Haven't got around to processing the E P1 pictures yet, was getting grief from the family about booking our summer holiday. Anyway done that now and hopefully able to disappear upstairs soon to sort out the raw files.

              Best regards

Well even if you thought they weren't up to your normal standard, they are great pics & I've enjoyed them, especially the last shot & 1st with all those birds! Thanks for sharing!
