  • Snow In Berkshire and Oxfordshire

    Dear All,

What with Christmas and all I have only just got around to a bit of post processing work tonight. So a little late here is my view of the snow we had in Berkshire and Oxfordshire just before holidays.

All pictures taken with canon 5D mark 2 and Canon 70-200mm F4

    Best Regards

    Josh

Thanks for showing these Josh, its really nice to see these wintry scenes. I particularly like the one of the trees, though its sad to see they look as though they may be dying

Its also interesting to see you used the 70-200 as its something I doubt I would normally do, perhaps because of the bulk, but also as I find them restricting for landscape work. You have got a good result though

      Hi

re the trees, they do produce partial leaf cover each year but never full. They have been that way for Many years and I have always been drawn to them from a photographic perspective.

Re the lens. Yes I agree it is not a natural choice for landscapes but I love the sharpness and with the 5d it is a fantastic combination. On the day I felt that it helped provide the composition I was looking for without needed to change to the 24-105mm in the bag.

Sat in a restaurant in Brighton at the moment. Had a bad first part of morning with my 5d (will explain in another post) and have been using the ep1 with 20mm exclusively since then.

      Best regards

      Josh

A lovely set of wintry images Josh. The lighting is very sympathetic to the scenes.

I would be really pleased to have taken the tree picture. It seems perfect compositionally and suits my eye!

The last picture is also excellent. Again, compositionally it really works for me with the red umbrella and the 2 people walking.

A bit of snow certainly alters a whole scene.

        Superb.

Thanks Audrey. I am very fortunate that my wife's car is quite good in snow as it allowed me to get out to see the snow from more than just my window.

          Best regards
