    Dear All,

I spent the day at Whipsnade last week. Great to get there without the kids so I could be selfish with camera time. Here are my Fav from the day. All taken with a canon 5d mark 2 and a 70-200mm F4 L lens.

    Best Regards

    Josh

I'm pleased you took time out to show these.

All work very well. I wish I had been the photographer.

          I agree with Stephen..

I'm greedy though, with 3 I really like - the third lion, the cheetah and the otter.

Are the mono ones your take on the grainy black and white Pen art filter?

Lovely shots although I think I would have preferred colour too.

All excellent shots, the male lion almost looks freshly brushed & groomed

Love the cheetah, I think the most beautiful of the big cats, and all cats big and small are beautiful.

But like the other comments I don't think mono does this type of shot any favors.

Hi Josh, I do like most the third lion. Very strong portrait. I also like it in B&W and probably I would try to apply e little more contrastRegards Horacio

Thanks for the comments all. I decided on B&W because the light was so poor. It was drizzling for pretty much the whole day and there was very little impact to the colours at all. I tried boosting them but then they began to look "false" hence the decision to focus on shape through use of B&W. Finally the lions were mostly surrounded by green grass and I felt this put them out of context with where you normally see them

Based upon the feedback I will go back and have another go.

                    Thanks

                      Dear All,

Here you go. See what you think about the colour.

Ian re the link to the EP1 grainy film filter. I think that filter has boosted my love of B&W so using a camera which doesn't have it was different. Until last week the 5d Mark two hadn't been used for months i.e. pretty much since I bought the EP 1 and fell in love.

                      Best Regards

                      Josh

Although i like B/W the colour versions seem to bring them to life, but either way they are very good

Another great shot of the otter - and the colour version of the first lion is beautiful, like the crop and texture

                            Re: Animals

The colour is superb. I find it easier to see the images in colour.

                            They are really good shots.

First lion shot, I love the colour.

2nd lion shot, his coat is beautiful. His hairdresser does an excellent job of streaking and highlights.

The third lion shot, although I like this better than the mono, I think the nose and mouth area have a blueish tinge.

All superb shots! I would be over the moon if I were able to get same calibre outside of Africa! Well done Josh! I particularly like 3rd pic of lion or portrait, with eyes looking straight into the camera! The cheetah being my favourite animal of all time, I would have preferred to see a colour shot, but still think the B&W version is great!
