Can you find your really early digital photos?

Here's one from April 1998:



This was taken on a twist and shoot Agfa ePhoto 1280; 1024x768 (800K pixels) native resolution or you could use a 1280x960 (1.2 megapixels) interpolated mode. The results had a still video look about them and the sample I had produced a noticeable yellow cast.

Before this, I had used various gadgets to make stills from video sources, and I did have a JVC digital (DV) camcorder in 1996, after Elizabeth (pictured above with me) was born.

Also from April 1998 and taken with the Agfa ePhoto 1280. This was on a trip to Finland. It was still very snowy - I think we were at Ulu?

I have tweaked this a bit in Lightroom to reduce noise, contrast, vibrance, sharpen, and improve the black levels.

Shot No.10 on my first digital camera a Canon G2, taken about DEC 2001. This was voted Camera of the Year 2002. The photo has only been sharpened a little today prior to posting here.

I bought a computer back around '98 with a 'free' 0.5 mega-pixel point and shoot camera. Still got the camera here somewhere.

I remember taking it to Gatwick Airport to see some friends off on their way to Brazil and shot 5 pics with it there!! I do have them around somewhere, would mean trawling through (and finding) some old discs so when I get some time I will dig them out.

The first was taken on 21st April 2000 with an Olympus C830L............one more year and olympus will send me a 10year long service award


just as a comparison the second picture is of my son on the right, taken on Olympus E500 at his prom night 22nd May 2009 a fraction over 9 years apart.
Blimey I feel old now......................

I think cameras improved a lot between 1998 and 2001
