  • Pavement chalk art

This is a chalk work on the pavement near the market at the port town of La Rochelle, in France, taken last year during the Bastille celebrations, where there was a big annual music festival.

And here is the art work from a wider view:

    Hi Ian -

I wonder who the artist is portraying - I like the look of his work and from memory was he from Asia?

Reminds me of the reggae legend Bob Marley?

For absolutely incredible chalk pavement art, look up the work of Julian Beever! Its absolutely amazing! I've recently seen some of his work but am unable to redirect this to the forum! A TV program showed him & his artwork in progress, whilst he attempted to beat the disastrous effect of rainshowers!

Is he the guy who draws the chasms and tunnels, etc.? It takes a glance or two to see that they're not real!

You've taken the words out of my mouth Josh.

I thought Ian had done a really good job there by including the pastel tin and contents.

Yes, that's the guy! 3D drawing...there's an awful lot of skill & talent needed to pull it off! He is Ace!
I do think the chalk drawing here is very good too! I think perhaps if Ian had taken the photo from a slightly more elevated positon, would have improved the perspective in the art! Well done Ian and the pavement artist!
