Lara, Julia, and Lara's school friend, Amy, proudly show off their medals:

I went a bit bonkers and took over 600 shots! I have greated an album in the gallery dedicated to 75 of them, you can find them here:

        Ian,

I've been going through your album and I have to say you really did an excellent job of documenting the event along with all the emotions involved.

Some of those images are very moving, very touching.

          Thanks Pol.

I spent most of the day trawling through the images and there was such a breadth of emotions from people who put a lot of effort into their participation. Many of them were driven by personal experience of cancer and that of their family and friends. Julia and I are fortunate in that none of our immediate family have suffered cancer (the most recent was Julia's grandmother), though come to think my mother has had a non-aggressive thyroid cancer condition, but we have several friends and their families who have been hit by the disease in its various guises.

I understand the entry list of 3,750 for the Watford event was fully subscribed this year. There are many other such events around the country, as Neil (Cogito) attests - though we had much better weather than his local event!

You can spend the time reading the messages. Grandparents, parents, partners, children and close friends - all remembered and not forgetting the survivors. The most moving were the ones with the long list of names and one woman, in particular, had a toddler on her shoulders, her message just said "for my husband".

I confess to shedding a few tears when I was looking through Ian's photos.

David's brother died aged just 45 and his wife died 5 years later (both died of Cancer) and our nephew was left orphaned just after GCSE. I also lost my best friend ever to Cancer.

              It's a very cruel disease.

I must apologise if you are seeing over-saturated images of mine in this thread and in the linked gallery. The images look fine in a colour managed browser, but they look on the rich side in IE8. They are sRGB, which is the recommended colour space for Web browsers. But that is no guarantee of correct appearance in browsers that don't support colour management.

You covered it well. Smiles, heartache and some expressions of sheer determination.

Anne and I missed this thread (well I did), due to a short break. Congratulations on a further year of your endeavours for your charity.

                    Proud and emotional moments.
