Anyone know what bird this is?

Hi everyone,

A neighbour brought this little fella to me this afternoon - don't ask me why It was hopping about on a pathway leading out of the park and the poor girl couldn't just walk away. The only advice the RSPCA in Victoria gave was for the girl to take it up to London which was not possible. They just said to put it back near to where it was found and hope for the best and let nature take it's course. Bit sad but there's nothing else I could do.

My question is .... what kind of bird is it? Pops

It's a baby Coot and should of been left alone by your friend as the parents would of been close by trying to feed it.

I seem to hear this so many times, that people find young birds and take them away thinking they are lost or something.

I would imagine it will certainly die now without it's parents.

This emphasises the fact that we shouldn't interfere with nature.
