  • Family of Swans

Grand Union Canal yesterday. One of the cygnets had attitude - when a duck came close to the group it was quick to throw his beak into the ducks body. Obviously knew he had dad and mum for backup.

The parents look very proud and why not indeed.

          Gez, Caz and Pops -

Thanks for the very nice comments.

The shot was a reward - I had walked about three and a half miles along a stretch of the canal, shooting this and that with the camera and this is one of about a dozen keepers for the day out. It was in fact almost the last on the card.

I think it is a brilliant shot.

We have Clumber Park on our doorstop with dozens of swans. I take many pictures but am never satisfied.

I think the composition, the catchlight in the swans' eyes together with their over the shoulder pose and the little cygnets, is one of the best I have seen.

              Hi Audrey -

I'm so pleased you had the courage to play with your computer - fingers crossed the problem has been sorted.

Thanks for your comments - appreciated. I was fortunate in getting the pose, normally I seem to click when it is a moment to early or late.
Anne and I visited them again today and it is surprising how quickly they are growing. You can see the necks now forming into swan like features.

              Regards. Barr1e
