    Re: Close ups

    Hey Mike,

Lovely work, I especially like the pine cone and python. I had a 7ft royal python as a 'pet' in my living room when my daughters were young. Is this yours and did you take the shot behind glass? I would have loved to see his tongue out.

      Hi Gina
Thanks for your comments, the pine cone is actually the trunk of a palm tree,
      not a bad guess though,
The snake is my 10ft boa, she was photographed in her den from as close as i could get with my lens, about 0.5 metre i guess, from inside not behind glass............one eye on the shot the other on her
      cheers
      Mike

Ha ha just like a man to brag about the size!

She's beautiful, is she very docile? I used to do my housework with mine around my neck and forget he was there until there was a knock at the door. I suppose it would seem strange to a stranger stood there with a snake around your neck. What do you feed her, rabbits?

Re the palm tree - my first thought was artichoke!

We lived in several countries in the Far East when I was young and when we were in Jakarta, Indonesia, when I was 10, I attended a the Joint Embassy School there (my father wasn't a diplomat, he worked for part of the UN, but most ex-pat kids there went to this school) and in our class we had a reticulated python as a pet. If we did our work well, we could earn some time holding the python - I thought it was a very effective incentive. Alas, I think modern health and safety rules would not permit this today!

Love the Boa shot but wouldn't be keen on having one around

              Not with those birds around.
