  • Photographing Buildings

I took this photo of a building in Milwaukee on the rivers edge. I have to take more to put on the realty company's website. I'm new to photography, but I'm hooked!!

I want to get better. I purchased Aperture last week and I feel really empowered to get out and take photos and to do it with purpose.

    All the best

    Welcome to the forum Gregory.

Although you have not placed your photograph in the critique section, I have to say for a beginner that is an excellent photograph. I am sure that your company will be very pleased with the result.

You chose a good day for the photograph and the reflections together with the bridge in the background are very attractive.

It was just a little low on the darks, so I hope you don't mind, but I have just given it a little more contrast. It may be too much for your liking but I think it shows more detail. May be something in between the two images.

Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing some more of your shots. You certainly have a good camera!

A big warm welcome to you, Gregory!

Aperture is quite a complex application. Let us know if you need any helping hands getting up to speed with it

Where do you feel you can improve in particular with your architectural photography?

        Re: Photographing Buildings

Thank you Autumn and thank you ian for the kind comments. Although I have a Nikon D70, which is ok, I really want the D700 - but one can only dream!! Until then I will make due with what I have.

The building on the river was difficult to take because I just happened to be standing on a (not very stable) dock that had some how survived the winter.

Autumn, you were absolutely right about the photo being dark. I had just discover the Vignette feature (WOW) and went over board. As much as I like the feature I have to remember not to over use it.

Thank guys for the warm welcome!!
