  • A day in London the full set.

    Dear All,

As some of you may know I spent last friday in London. I live in Berkshire so the city is only about an hour away and this time I drove in parked up and started to wander.

This was my third trip to London with my camera (The other days can be found here http://www.pbase.com/joshbear/london...ember&page=all

    and here http://www.pbase.com/joshbear/london_in_june&page=all )
and I decided to try different locations.

I used to be a sales rep in London (many years ago) so am very comfortable in the city. My camera stays out on a very robust wrist strap for most of the time so that if I see a photo opp I can make the most of it before it disappears. My general plan of action for these days has been to just wander.

I stay away from Oxford street and the shopping locations and instead let the tube network take me to places where there might be more photographs waiting to be taken. For this trip I started from Piccadilly and travelled to Embankment before moving on to Temple, St Pauls, Bank, Smithfield, back to where I had parked to grab my tripod. Then down to the Thames path to the London eye and then finally to Trafalgar square. At one part of the day I did wish for a pedometer so that I could see just how far I had walked.

I carry my camera with 24-105L lens, a 70-200 F4 IS L lens, my lee ND and polariser filter set, a joby gorilla pod with a ball head and associated gubbins e.g. memory cards etc. My proper tripod I used for the night shots is from manfrotto with a geared head.

So that's the background, what about the pictures? Well some have been posted in the critique forum. The whole day can be found here http://www.pbase.com/joshbear/london_feb_2009&page=all

But here are a few more. Hope you enjoy.

    Best Regards

    Josh

Great set of pics there Josh. I was over in London yesterday on a course, (just outside Bank) where you walked. I took the point and shoot but due to time restrictions because of flying to and from Guernsey catching the tube and the Gatwick express etc I never got the chance.
I especially liked the untouristy (is that a word ?) ones with the flowers for sale and the ties as well as the mono ones

Thanks. Re the ties I just wandered into a menswear shop and told them I was an photographer (In case the camera didn't give it away) and asked could I take pictures of the ties cause the colours were so great. They were a little unsure but said yes.

      Best regards

A bit late in posting, but haven't been online so much recently...

A cracking set of photos - my favourite would Smithfields and clock - I love the way the light is filtering through.
