Hi Nicholas! Good to see you back on here again. I'm really sorry your account got corrupted, preventing you from logging in.

Those are very impressive panos - did you take them with your new FinePix S9000? I'll bet you had a wonderful time on your cruise.

By the way, we can accommodate 1600 pixel wide images in the DPNow gallery, not as wide as your full size panoramas, but reasonably generous, nonetheless

Glad to be back Ian, t has been a long while.

You did remember my S9000. I traded it in for my R-1.

Here are some more panos from the same cruise. These were hastily made but hopefuly depict the scene:

Gosh Nicholas - these are fabulous. A breathtaking collection from what looks as though it was a fantastic cruise!
I haven't had time, nor good enough connection to savour all of them in their full glory as yet - but even the L size is sufficient to show how something of the grandeur of the scenes and excellent work you've put into it.

Nice to see you back here too.

Were these all hand held or did you use a tripod? If the latter there must have been some interest form other passengers, no doubt

I'm quite curious about cruises - do you get to spend enough time on-shore?

Re: Grenada & Tortola, View from the Spirit in port

Hello, Ian, Pol, Callie, and All,

Yes, the panos were were all handheld or rested on a railing or other available fixture.
I shot so quickly that no one knew I was shooting panoramas.

I did shoot a few panos as raw, and over the winter I will process those to increase the detail. etc. ( hopefully).

I make use of the grid lines in my Evf or on my LCD.

                  I used Autostitch.

I did bring my small tripod but did not take it out of my luggage, mainly because I soon learned that other passengers were more than willing to take pictures of my wife and I. I just set my R-1 on Auto, at 24 mm and handed them thecamera. A few I would encourge to zoom in if they looked like they knew how to handle a camera. They all came out focused except one

                  Ian,
this was our first cruise and we can't wait until our next one.
We had six stops on the trip and typically we docked at 8 AM and left at 5 PM. Shore excursions were about 4 hours. We had plenty of time.
Before the cruise we had the same questions you have.

You can come along with us on a day by day basis by viewing my galleries of our cruise. We met many wonderful people.
We left October 8 and returned October 19.
I did make a scene when they tried to get us off the boat..... ( Ha!! ):
