  • Waiting for school to finish

Another from my Thailand album. This youngster is not a pupil at the primary school, he's too young and is waiting, with a relative, for his sibling to come out at the end of the sschool day:

Nicely controlled exposure Ian. Did you compensate using the screen, or simply use spot metering?

I used both EV compensation and spot metering last week in aperture priority auto mode and these ones, according to the exif data, were taken using spot-metering.

I also used manual exposure from time to time, especially when I wanted a slow shutter speed to brighten tje background when using flash.

No matter where in the world you go the kids all have the same set of expressions. These are so well captured moments that only exist for that split second and are then gone. You simply cannot pose the look that the child is giving you, it's classic.

The 2nd made me smile. The youngster was obviously not sure about you being there.
Got to ask...did you take these handheld? wonderfully sharp and I notice that the 2nd was a very slow shutter speed.

Yes, all hand held. I did bring a tripod, but it didn't get much use - though ironically when it did I was looking for bird shots - not very successfully though!
