  • Yellow Moon

    So there I was, outside in the -2deg freezing frostyness with my kit. I tried getting the settings right for about half an hour before I couldn't feel my feet and fingers anymore. This is possibly the best moon shot I've ever achieved and although it's not perfect, I'm pretty pleased with it. Please take a look at the EXIF data and if there is something that could be changed to improve the shot please let me know. I used a remote control to activate the shutter as any slight movement blurred the image severely.

    Re: Yellow Moon

    Nice picture indeed, well done for getting out there and doing it.

    Have a look at this, there are good photo's on this site and lots of information, settings what they use that could help;

    FULL MOON ALERT! This weekend's full Moon is the biggest and brightest of 2009. It's a "perigee Moon" as much as 50,000 km closer to Earth than other full Moons we'll see later this year. Perigee moonlight shining through icy winter air can produce beautiful halos, coronas, moondogs and other atmospheric optics phenomena. Sample photos are featured on today's edition of Spaceweather.com.

      I take my hat off to you Gina, firstly for an amazing shot & secondly for braving the icy elements to achieve it!

        Thanks ekkl and Jocelyn for your comments on this photo. I don't know if I'll be able to see the moon at all tonight, we had a covering of snow last night, freezing fog and frost. Today the sky is just white so it looks probable that there will be too much cloud to get a decent shot but I'll keep watch just in case.

        I can't access the EXIF data in my gallery, do you know why?

          Hi Gina -

          I sit in awe - I have tried many times to achieve what you have and failed.

          Congratulations on a good shot.

            Thanks a lot Barrie, praise indeed coming from you.

            Here are a couple from tonight's Perigee moon. It was quite cloudy so focussing was a problem but got these.
