  • New bird on the block

Started to visit 3/4 times per day but the most difficult challenge I have had yet. It never ever stops bobbing around and I swear it must have springs at the top of its legs.

I like the way it seems to be eye-balling you

      Have you identified it yet?

I am not absolutely sure but could it be a female Yellow Wagtail?

            That's nice Dennis - thanks.

I note we have a couple of robins just arrived in the back garden and a pair of blackbirds in the front.

            Regards. Barr1e

Yes..Dennis got it right...it is a female Grey Wagtail.
It now comes 3/4 times every day and always to the same area of the garden.

Hi Pops - I did not quite get it right, I knew it was a Wagtail but now having looked at my wife's larger volume on British Birds it is as you rightly say a Grey Wagtail and not Yellow. You seem to be very fortunate in the variety of birds which visit your garden, all we seem to get are Wood Pigieons and Magpies which drive off the other birds. We get the odd robin or a wren and three years ago we had a couple of Blue Tits which raised a family in a bird box which we put up at the end of the garden. We watched the continuous back and forth of the parents with food and often saw the chicks heads appear at the entrance then one day no more - they had gone and we did not see them go.!!

Another stunning photo Pops! I really do love seeing your bird photos. It's quite amazing how you manage to capture such sharp focus on these smaller birds, particularly when they bob about so!! Yes, like their legs are on springs...you have it right there!

Another cracking pair of shots Pops - impressive as ever, and love the colouring.

I need to download a couple I've taken - hopefully you might be able to help me identify them!
