Re: Rome Transitional Line Photo
Hi Jocelyn -
It looked fun on your previous post, so with your instructions posted I attempted this last night - I must try harder unless Elements 5 works in another way. I Failed.

Like Ian I'm rather drawn to this.

It is great fun & I hope you are able to work it out! I don't know if Elements 5 has the same filter gallery or the ability to select vector mask layers! Stephen or Ian may be able to advise you there! Did you make sure that the foreground colour was set to default ie black foreground when creating the line drawing? Did you get as far as producing the full image as a line drawing? When creating the gradient, start it about 1/3 way down from top & finish it where you want the line drawing to appear in completed image, thus creating the transition!Jocelyn

Hi Jocelyn -
I worked my way through to a wonderful line drawing. When trying to apply a layer mask it would seem Elements 5 does not contain one. I am upgrading soon to Elements 7 and I know this version is close to CS3 or 4. Like Arnie says 'I'll be back'.

Barrie - I've got Elements 5 as well... and I'm pretty definite it hasn't.Originally posted by Barr1e View PostHi Jocelyn -

I've been thinking of Elements 7 but still undecided.... will watch to see what you think of it!

E7 will be on the Christmas list but I may have to buy it with any monies given early in the New Year.

Re: Rome Transitional Line Photo
I managed this effect on photoshop 6.0 using Jocelyn's guide currently posted on the "photoshop permutations" forum here (sub-forum under "software solutions). I've posted a link there to a site I found useful which explained how I could "fake" a layer mask on elements and it worked fine.
Good luck!
Neil.
