  • My take on light trails

Well mo had a go the other week and at the time I said I would have to give it a go. Well I did learn a thing or two first check the camera is set to the right iso before you take photos not when you get home. Also I needed more hight but this is not easy over here. I also think I should have waited till it was the end of rush hour that way I would have had a better flow of cars. I will try this again some time soon but this is it for now.

First thanks pops glad you like them. Ian we have all seen these done before but it can just be fun to get out there and have a go yourself. Like I said in the first post it would have been nice to have been just that little bit higher above the lights. I will have to have a look out for a few choice spots over the next few days or so. I may give it another go at the weekend if I can find the right spot.

          Hi Pete
Interesting set of pictures there, taken just around the corner from the ones I did a couple of weeks ago, the rule is (so I read) that these sort of pics are best with a little light in the sky and the 5pm rush hour is now dark. I dont think in this case it detracts from the picture at all. I was surprised at the traffic you got from that vantage point though.

            Hi Mo
I wanted to try this spot out first as it is not really one I have seen used before. I went there about 4.20 and set up the camera and tripod getting some funny looks as I did so. I like the fact that the buildings give you some light in the background as I think this helped with it being dark by the time rush hour came. The thing that I did not plan on was that there is an underground car park at checkers and with all the office staff coming out from there it meant that I had a lot of standing traffic right in front of me. I still think using the covered bunker by the bus station would be a good place to use as it would give you a good flow of traffic and the height as well. Also if going back to the spot that I used yesterday was used at the weekend you would not have the office staff coming from the underground car park so that would help with the flow of traffic.
