  • Apologies to Autumn!

Thought you might like to see this image, as it was directly influenced by what I've seen on these forums.

The subject is a manhole cover near my home, taken after Autumn's excellent "pavement jewellry" shots (see the photo critque forum) encouraged me to look down, rather than up or around, on my walk this morning.

The selective desaturation is taken straight from coupekid's tutorial on the beginners forum.

However, all the problems/shortcomings with this photograph are entirely mine!

    Re: Apologies to Autumn!

No need to apologise. It's quite a challenge when you have a specific subject.

Went to my daughter's house this morning and noticed a rusty catch on the gate. One of the pull back at the top type. I thought that if I had had time and not been on crutches it would have been worth a study. I know many in our Photographic Society would have made a rattling good job of it. It's quite nice to look for something that you would not normally photograph.

You made a good job of following the selective colouring tut.
Now you have learnt from Autumn to look down don't forget to look up once in a while as well.
