Surprise!

Hi! I'm back from a 5 week holiday, touring Europe & visiting family in the UK! Now, the pic I have here is not the best of shots or quality photography! I had been looking through the rather tall hedgerows, (usual for Devon) looking for the stag &....suddenly to my surprise ....he was right there in front of me! Unfortunately, I was unable to move the undergrowth as it was just out of reach! The next thing, he was gone & so too any other chances of another shot!

Wow - now that looks very close.
We have been photographing deer seriously for the past two years and it has taken that length of time to build a very small library of pix of them, as the ones locally are very skittish. We cheated recently and went to the deer park in Kent where they are very camera friendly.

It seems you had a great holidy and thanks for the pictures so far including this one - almost eye to eye.

He was very close Barr1e, approx 4 or 5 feet only! Just the other side of the hedge! Do you know what, in my excitement, I forgot to use the optical zoom! My camera.....Panasonic FZ30 is supposed to superzoom....if you press the buttons that is! That excitement & thrill is a great feeling though!

Hi Kombiz.
What I did say was that this pic was taken as a 'grab shot' rather hastily when surprized in seeing a stag (male red deer) right before my eyes when looking through a hedge! The size of file unfortunately is governed by limiting it to a maximum of 250mb! The shot was taken through the foliage, decreasing focus! Hope this explains things a little more!
