We spent a couple of nights in Naples, down in the South West of Florida, during our 3 week holiday. There is a wonderful white beach there and having been once before anticipated the potential great sunsets. The beach overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and is easily accessed over short boardwalks from the road. We arrived just in time and took the opportunity to catch something of the evening light as well as a great sunset. Both these were taken with the G9, I left my big camera at home this time

Re: Evening light Naples Beach, Florida
The setting sun is always a temptation isn't it Stephen?
I like the way the sunlit bridge leads you into the picture towards the sea. Can't make up my mind about the half umbrella, but it was there. It probably wouldn't improve it if it were removed, in fact it may detract from the picture.
I like the little dapples of light through the trees, but I would have just removed the one on the bottom left near the border.
The second one is my favourite, very well spotted. The occupant has obviously set the scene for you (or is it Kath or one of your travelling companions?) The way the sunlight is shining through the "Sundowner" glass, just makes the whole scene for me.
If not set up, weren't you lucky?
Great capture.

Re: Evening light Naples Beach, Florida
Thanks for your comments Rod and Audrey.
The shots simply presented themselves, the first as we got out of the car, and the second as we walked over the boardwalk. All I had to do was move into position and compose the shot. Of course there was a certain amount of exposure compensation, but this is the beauty of the G9 which has more control than the fully auto compacts.
Will put a few more up when I have time, though it must be said that the majority of photos taken were just holiday type snapshots

There's nothing wrong with holiday type snapshots - they're memories for you, and personal to youOriginally posted by Stephen View PostThanks for your comments Rod and Audrey.

I must admit I hadn't noticed the umbrella until Audrey mentioned it, but it doesn't detract from the general scene for me - I like the way the eye is led onto and over the bridge, and the colours in the second shot are excellent. A very relaxing scene.....carolannphotos.smugmug.com / webleedmusicmedia.com
