I don't know if you get the BJP? They mentioned an exhibition at the Focal Point Gallery which has just ended. It is called 'Historians' by Julian Woollatt and features photographs of people involved in war re-enactment groups. Your photos seem to portray the subjects with some affection? Whereas his seem very disturbing (there are children dressed as members of the Hitler Youth):

I think it shows that different photographers can get very different results depending on their intention.

A photographer I've been talking to called Rob Whittaker has done a series on WW2 re-enactments you might find interesting:

      Hi,
As you say the first is a little disturbing, with children dressed up in uniforms
.. but I like some of the second sites ..
.. the guy in the MP's hat looks a bit like Elton John in shades
They are all black and white, whereas I used a B&W filter and then a Sepia.

      Clear shots though ...

      Thanks for that one ...

I think it nicely shows how different photographers can take pictures of the same things and get very different results. I think in your set you've gone for making it look like the pictures were taken during the second world war?

From what I read about the exhibition his approach was to show them as modern people (for whatever reason) dressed in uniforms of a past time.

Anyway, thanks for letting us see your work.

Thanks for these as I have only seen pix like these in old newspapers etc. Pleasing to see the past in the present.

Is anyone seeing these pics as anything other than a thumbnail? I'm wondering why that is, and why no one else has mentioned it. They certainly look like great pics as thumbnails anyway

Many thanks for you your comments ....
I was unsure weather to post up the colour pictures, but thought the Sepia finish would be more ni keeping with the subject.

I tried a few with a 'Film Grain' effect, but they started getting a bit 'too messy'.
