Oooooo - they're all very good but I especially like that first one because of the super colours, lighting and dof.

I haven't done any macros for ages. Maybe I should get get my kit out again soon. We're in the middle of a major overhaul and redesign of the garden 'cos I want a 'butterfly and insect' garden so I can do some 'garden safaris' again.

I totally agree with Pol the first one is my favourite. In fact I'm impressed with all of them. I've never done much Macro stuff and at present I don't have any macro lenses or extension tubes. I think what makes these and the ones with the syringe is that you have been creative, whereas, and with all due respect, sticking a lens infront of a flower or insect, often is not very creative. So great stuff Peter

          Thanks Guys and Girls

The weather is not what you would really expect at the moment having said that its not pouring it down all day just odd times so I have spent the last few days playing as my wife calls it. Stephen me being creative is sometimes my downfall as I cannot always get the end product right but i am happy with these.

That's right. Do your best to persuade Gert that trees don't need to be felled and that I don't need more flower space.

              Peter,
Keep up the great work. Macro is a difficult sphere to get invovled in. Listen to your own feelings. If you feel inclined, take a trip into my world and many other macro photographers worldwide ,and visit "Mushroom Observer." (just google for the site, and I think you will be surprised. Check out as many images as possible, because some are taken by Mycologists, but I do have a number of images on the site under kundabungkid. Hope you get something out of the site. Cheers, Ian (KK)

                Thanks Ian

I will have a look around the site. i have spent a little while looking around the web at different macro sites of late and it is amazing how it makes you look at this in a different way. Like on Monday I was in the mother in laws garden and just could not see anything. It was only when I stopped and look around that that I noticed the bees butterfly's

It's a whole new universe with all sorts of fascinating things you can watch for hours. Any photographs you can manage to get are a bonus, especially if you manage to get them without geting stung. We sometimes spend ages just watching the amazing insects, butterflies, dragonflies etc on the nature reserve, though I don't often even attempt to get pictures as it can be difficult terrain let alone trying to get good photos.

There's another 'mushroom' site you might enjoy in addition the the one KK(Ian) has mentioned. Have a look HERE - (Pamela Kaminski's Mushroom site). She also has a 'photographing mushrooms' link on there.

You haven't broken any rules whatsoever. Many thanks for the link, which is well worth the wait to see the mind-blowing, inspirational macro work!

Quite apart from the superb details of the insects, the background colours and dof work together to produce some beautiful examples of the colourful 'artwork' in nature - much of it not especially noticed until we look deep down 'inside' a macro shot.

I suppose the collection must have taken a very long time to build up - certainly many years of patience, practice and knowledge of the subjects' habits and habitats as well as photography techniques.

The site proves that good photography and presentation can make even the 'ugly bugs' look beautiful .... which they are really.
